Each project starts from a real problem and ends in a tested prototype, often in a consortium with universities and companies.

Smart cities

Street lighting that also measures, communicates and charges vehicles: urban infrastructure designed as a service platform.

Agrifood

Ultraviolet light to stimulate the vine’s natural defences and cut synthetic pesticides, tested in the field.

Matglow UV-C gantries installed between the rows of an experimental vineyard UVineSafe UV-C light to trigger the vine’s defences, in the largest UV living lab in the field. UVFrio experimental set-up with potted vines in a UTAD greenhouse UVFrio UV-B and UV-C light to stimulate the vine’s natural defences, in a PhD thesis.

Renewable energy

Hybrid solar modules for building façades, with electrical and thermal energy management and local storage.

Security and defence

UV-C disinfection and certified protective equipment, developed and produced in Portugal.
